aww so sweet and what a great name!!!

yep you will need to bond with him whether you choose to carry him around or interact on the floor on his terms.

don't forget, if he bonds with you as his main handler, that does not mean he is safe with strangers! they tend to bond with one person.

Cheers Pouchie I do intend to spend a lot of time with him and I've already seen some progress - on Sunday he wouldn't even wake up, and took banana very reluctantly as if he thought I was trying to poison him - Monday was the 'Great Escape' which pushed things back a bit - but yesterday I stroked him in his cage and he sniffed my hand without biting, he's also keen to investigate his cage although he hasn't dared leave it yet.

You keep fancies as well I see - isn't it fascinating how much the gambians/emins act like fancy rats in some ways? The sleep on their heads, yawn and stretch just like their little cousins. Bless! But what I like most is how they wipe their long whiskers when they wash their faces. I'm absolutely besotted!

Oh and by the way, I'm the only person in my flat and my friends aren't keen on rats, so I think it's safe to say I'll be the only one who ever handles him anyway!

Hey Kelly, I have not been online for a few days, i got your Pm today and will reply in full in the morning. Dont worry about the great escape though alot of first time gambian (or pouched in general) keepers have had similar situations (myself included) and it has not caused any problems other than increased the "bonding" time.

Lots of time, and bribes (banana as you are doing) and you wil be fine, Just remember what pouchie has said about the one person bond, it seems to be a trend down here with us lot so I am sure it will be the same with yours.

Will Pm you in the morning
