Just some info for you ... a decent cat owner wouldn't allow the kittens to leave their mother until its 10 weeks old. This is because kittens aren't usually completely weaned (of course there are some exceptions) until 10 weeks and also, a kitten's eyesight isn't as good as an adult's until its 10 weeks. So if you get a kitten less than 10 weeks, just keep in mind that it won't be able to see perfectly for a couple of week so he/she might be a bit scared of sudden movements and may scratch or bite as a way of defending itself - not great if you have kids running round.
Of course, there are exceptions to the rule and what I have said above isn't the be all and end all but just something to bear in mind if you're offered a kitten 10 weeks old or less - if you're offered a kitten less than 8 weeks, you may need to do some other things to look after it such as give it special kitten milk from the vets that would replace what its mother should have been giving it! Also, I would question the source as to why they want to rehome a kitten so early because at 8 weeks or less, it should be with its mother. (Just some info for you!)
