As i said earlier, mine has been fine on her own for 8months, she has never been off food or anything like that......
She is running around my front room as we speak! getting loads of attention.
Whats your experience with them???

lol its unnatural to keep meerkats in captivity and reptiles overall, but as he has said it was fine. Have you kept meerkats or is it based on the somthing you have read/herd? (sorry everyone else had a say...)

Whether I have experiece with meerkats or not is beside the point.

From detailled research it is apparent that meerkats are much happier in groups of their own kind.

I'm not having a go at anyone here, just stating fact.

EDIT - & russiantort, yes it's unnatural for any animal to be kept in captivity, but we should try & make their captive life as natural as possible, hence the reason snakes are fed whole prey items as apposed to canned food. Hence the reason rats are kept in groups. Hence the reason arborial species are provided with adequate height..Etc..

I'm not replying here anymore as people are taking it far too personally, it is a fact that meerkats are social animals & are happier with their own kind, that's not being funny with anyone, it's just a basic fact.

meerkats are social animals true, however if they have been hand reared and therefore imprinted they can fine kept singley provided they are integrated in to the house hold. As with all imprints they will see their owners and family as part of there pack.

So you do not keep meerkats, so there for you cannot comment on what they need as you have no experience........

I don't keep frogs but I know they need humidity. I don't keep Lions but know they need to be fed on meat. I don't keep whales but know they need to swim.

I can't be arsed arguing though tbh, the initial comment wasn't even aimed at you so I don't see why you're taking it so personally & being so defensive.

Free bump, hope you find a male mate.

I don't know much about meerkats and have never kept them, but I do believe they do require the company of conspecifics. I mean they communicate via scent and body posture mainly, and a human cannot communicate provide that. However, imprinted animals, I'm sure, are a whole different ball game.

Good luck finding another mate!

Free bump!

I hate it when people say EXACTLY what you're trying to say but can't & they put it so much better than you
