at about 8-9 weeks, she was getting mostly fine chopped veggies with a spoon of yoghurt mixed in... some boiled egg, chicken, and the odd calcium dog biscuit..

she lives in one of the spare bedrooms.. and has a cage as a den...

with various toys and sleeping stuff and a litter pan

she loves her cube!! only just fits in it these days tho!

she was litter trained for the start.. the odd mishap downstairs... upstairs is a long way to go for a little one in need... but these days i rarely find anything anywhere other than here!

she found the summer a little warm, and liked to sleep on a pile of duvet under an open window the catch the breeze..

waking her up, meant a chance to get a great pic of her teeth!!

but she did not stay that way for long!

she spent so much time chasing me around, i had to carry her with me!

or i was being tripped all the time!

the americans call her colour "white on white" as you can see her stripes still, despite being an albino...

the americans also have a term called the skunk shuffle, which is the way of walking a skunk owner develops... as the terrors run round you in circles as you try and walk!!

chaaaaaaarrrrrggggggeeeee....

play with me!!

stomp.. scrape... stomp.. scrap..

she bounces forward at me... stops abruptly.. snorts.. stamps... then goes backwards scraping with the front feet... then she bounces forward sideways again and challenges me to chase her with another stomp snort!

she likes fruit too, it forms about 5% of her diet.. apples she likes, grapes though not too many, mango.. papaya is a favourite.. banana she hates!

at about 6 months old, she had her first big public outing, to the exeter reptile show...

i take her den out with me when she is visiting.. it just fits across the back of the car, and means she has a "base" she is comfy in to go back too.! you can see it, behind the little girl who is stroking snuff..

our table was 10 deep all day, she got to make lots and lots of new
friends, and especially enjoyed wheel chair rides!

a young girl, from the local school pet club, came along with her class, Snuff was happy as larry sat in her lap being petted and wheeled about! took it like a pro!!!

i had to stick a sign up, to counteract the "look at the ferret" comments!

after the show, at about 7pm, i dropped a friend down on the coast, and we took skunk for a look at the sea! although it looks very sunny, you can see from the shadows that its late in the day.. i did make sure her eyes were protected the majority of the time of course, especially with her being albino...

(she looks so small there now!!)

this next set of pics.. is Snuff on an egg hunt! she has the most amazing sense of smell!

if she gets somewhere she shouldn't be (quite a common thing) like under the wardrobe.. i can get her back by holding a few mealworms and blowing across them towards her.. as soon as the air hits her nose.. she knows, and shes out in a trice.. cheeky witch!

eggs! god she can't get enough of them! shells and all! (good for calcium)

makes a right mess mind you! that carpet has been replaced by a hard floor now!

ta Nat!

i saw someone on here saying about how they did not see a skunk as being a good pet.

well, i'd like to ask her to come and meet snuff, and see how she likes being a captive skunk!!!!!

she bonded to me from 8 weeks old, just like a cat or dog, infact, being a cat keeper too for years, i would say MORE than any cat i know...

i spent the first few weeks getting very little sleep, staying up in her time (10pm-2am) and just sitting in her room, watching tv, reading.. talking to people on the phone.. so she was used to sounds and lights (TV) and sounds of me talking on the phone, noise and general household clattering and battering... she comes when she is called, is house trained, likes to climb onto your lap for a cuddle in the evenings.. relaxes into you when she sleeps with a soft *sigh* and a snuggle... she makes a fantastic house pet.. i'd have her over cats, dogs and rabbits everytime. she is totally and utterely "humanised" i would, and have, trusted her with kids as young as 18 months.. she goes on school talks and takes it when 15 3 year olds all try and stroke her at the same time.. as long as i am there, or someone is there to hold her.. she has the attitude "if mum says its ok, its ok"

she is the one i would save first in a fire.

this is a video of her mugging dave on my lap top! its a bit dark i'm afraid, i'll try and do some more soon!

and a last lot of pics...

can you tell i am supposed to be working on something today, and lack the motivation for starting it!!

posing on a chair!

did someone call me?

coming mum!!!

(this is the video that shows the same, coming when called off the chair... just to prove she does do it! but its very very very dark! very very very very..)

and she mastered the stairs early on too!

thats it for now.. sorry to those on dial up, and i know some of you have seen them before, but... she is too cute not to show off again and again..

makes me want to go home and cuddle her again, looking at some of the pics!

i count myself hugely lucky, to be able to share time and space with such a totally rewarding and amazing animal!
