I have a pair of these. (Quite rare as pets)

richardsons ground squiggle ?

saw some at houten.. nice... another for the list at some point... i like the whistle

do you breed yours?

Correct (although squirrel)

We are not sure if the female is pregnant just now. (Apparently the female is only receptive for 3 hours on 1 day per year)

Although this is another animal that is classed as vermin in its native country.

lol, yus, soz.. always call 'em squiggles... nice.. i did like the ones i saw this weekend yes

how are you keeping them? what are they like to interact with?

They are kept in a 4ft x 2ft x 3ft high 2 tiered wire cage. They are clean animals (do their business in 1 area.) They are quite happy to be stroked but are not to keen on initial pick up. However because they are a social animal they are quite happy to nestle in whilst you are sitting down watching tv.

They also chirp similar to a chipmonk.

I used to have 2 pairs of RGS's, they're just wonderful! Soooooo cute! Breeding is a whole different matter Nerys, they need hibernating and then the female has to come into season and the male in rut at the same time and as has already been said there's a very small window of opportunity.
