But the female that gave birth first has claimed their house, and is now stealing the rest of the bedding off the other one!!

So I've put a load more in, bless her, she gave birth in the corner under the water bottle.

How many litters depends really on how often you mate them, can't remember but I think it 20 odd days pregnancy since mating.

Not sure how many they have had atm, dont wont to disturb them too much yet, because I need them a bit bigger......again I think it's between 8-14 babies, not sure.

If it's like mice then the female will go straight into heat after giving birth.

Must say I'm really quite taken with these 3, have put off having rats for ages..........should have done it sooner tbh.

Lovely piccies, I love rats, my aunt used to keep them, really intelligent, and clean compared to hampsters etc. Have always wanted one, but alas, hubby wouldn't agree And they are prone to stress I believe, so they probably wouldn't be very happy in our mad house, so better for them to have a nice comfy quiet home

Or be snake food if that's the case, everything has to eat I suppose.

I'll let you into a little secret, I was going to pick up the rats and Rob (hubby) is going 'oh no, not bloody rats'

Guess who gives them the most cuddles?? yup him Especially the male - they have bonded....which we never usually do with potential food!! I think Rob feels sorry for daddy rat as he's been pushed aside now these babes are here, bless him!!

Ssssssh I didn't tell you that
