Work at a wildlife sanctuary and they were brought in when they were 2 weeks old. The drey was pulled out the tree by a predator and they were found on the ground a bit of a way from it.

My bosses had just gone off on their annual holiday and so I took them home cos they needed round the clock feeding. Truth of the matter is they don't want them at the Sanctuary, cos we've got 2 greys there and we're getting a huge amount of flack from a extremist in the local village who wants them killed off cos we're in a red squirrel area!

If the red kittens were taken there and anything happened to them the guy would blame the greys and have a field day, so I've still got them here. They're 10 weeks old now.

Well they cottoned on to being put back in their pen when they were about 6 weeks old and started heading for the middle of our backs where we couldn't reach them as soon as they realised what's going on. because they see us as 'mum and dad' they come to us when we call and do eventually stop the mad rushing (after about half an hour)

Getting hold of them is easy, it's letting go that's hard! They cling on so well with their claws that when I put them in the pen and bring my hand out they're still clinging onto it. They're out all day in the garden, but I bring them in at night to a kitten pen in the bedroom. It took me about 10 minutes to get one in the pen last night. I got one in fairly quickly, but the other kept running down my back, across the bed and up the curtains, then when I held out my hand, he'd come back to me, on my shoulder until I reached the pen, then he was off again. He jumped on one of the cats on the windowsill, who wasn't particularly chuffed about it and so jumped off, taking the squirrel with him, but the squirrel just did it again twice more until Cadbury got the message and sloped off!!!

Tonight I wrapped them in a towel or t-shirt and put the whole thing in the pen, except in my rush to watch "Heroes, I forgot to lock the lower door. About 2 minutes after I came down I heard a lot of tappy lappying going on in the hall (wooden floor) and found them both back in the kitchen,, playing chasy with Harry one of my other cats!! Never a dull moment, but at least now I've sussed out how to get them in quicker, but they don't half swear at me when I get a hold of them cos they know they're going in their pen!

I am! Although I'm not sure my skin will ever fully recover. I've had to resort to gaberdene or denim trousers and a big sloppy long sleeved fleecy jumper to stop them scratching me. My arms, hands, legs and chest look like I've been self harming cos they're criss crossed with scratches in various stages of repair!

Do I care! Course not! This might never happen for me again and so I'm enjoying every minute of it while I have them!
