Default Exotic birds stolen from aviary

Exotic birds worth £21,000 have been stolen from aviaries in a village north of Northampton. The 26 birds were stolen between 14 and 15 September and the owner believes they were deliberately targeted by someone with specialist knowledge.

im not being funny or cold hearted but if you had that much worth of parrots, and even if they werent worth that much wouldnt you think they would of had better security. they dont even know the exact date they went missing. all of our parrots are kept in the house anyway, but i still cant get my head around the fact they cant pinpoint when exactly they went missing

how can you comment on their security ? do you know what their security was like ? lol you cant even figure out that the birds were taken overnight
hence the 14th and 15th

if this was done by proffesional thieves , then no amount of security would stop them , especialy when 21 grands worth of birds were there

when i first saw the title of this thread, i thought ....why would you steal the common everyday ones? of course you'd steal the rare exotic ones, that's where the money is!

I think I know who this guy is as few breeders in the UK have Galah's and his security was, in the days I knew him, very tight. Yes this is a specialist to order theft and chances are they are out of the country by now in my time in Aviculture Belgium was the place they ended up before being moved around the world.

I had 33 pairs of different species of parrots from various parts of the world that were kept outside in aviaries with geese and dogs on guard duty all night. I'd like to see anyone keep those sorts of numbers of adult breeding birds in their home its just not viable hell my green wings had flights of 12 x 15 minimum for each pair. Prices must have come down a bit too in my day that little lot would have been worth a little more.

Sorry to see these things are still happening but then it doesn't seem to matter what the animal is if there's a demand then the theives will give it a go.
