Default Bitis parviocula feeding

Well, not the first time these guys have fed for me but the FIRST time it will be seen by many people. As far as I know, this is the only feeding video anywhere, that involves Bitis parviocula

Hmm that was interesting to watch.

Surprising they do not use their fangs in feeding, from what i have seen this is an unusual trait in viper species

Any hypothisis as to why al?

Personally thinking it may be to protect them, but i cant really think as to why. Maybe it takes longer for them to regenerate them since it is a cooler climate?

looks as though the snake 'knows' that the mouse is dead and isnt too bothered about tryin to kill it off hence it not showing the usual 'fang walk'...

no point in wasting expensive venom when you dont need to....

a few of my snake do a similar thing...particularly the rear-fangs

why grab and chew then swallow when you can just much it straight away?

I really have to study them for awhile, can't form a hypothsis with so little data.
