Hey gang, i know there is no ideal dwa snake, as all can do serious damage. What i do want to know is which ones... except being venomous are pretty much bombproof and hardy. So they arent massively susceptable to stress etc... have generally basic husbandry except venomous.lol. i cant seem to word this without sounding really bad.
Okay... imagine a venomous corn... and a venomous emerald tree boa. Corns being the easier side....... ETB being the more difficult. What DWA snakes are more to the venomous side. Cheers WllcR Please no lectures... u know what i mean.

Si is right, copperheads are known as a "starter hot" simply because the vast majority of bites need pain management only, as in no AV or amazingly special treatment from the hospital (in most cases, standard DWA disclaimer!) then it's just a matter of growing back all the skin that fell out in lumps and you're away

I was just reading about copperheads actually, and apparently 2 people have died from bites in the last two years which isnt a great deal compared to amount of bites but not good for the two people, but statistics arnt known for the amount of people that have lost digits and the use of their hands from bites, I know of one guy in NI that lost a finger after being bitten.

your right there is alot of difference in care on venomous, for instance temple vipers i would equate to etbs, yet, mambas in care wise are similar to corns, pretty hardy, most cobras are hardy, and the bitis family the same, atheris ceratophra and a couple of others are good from a risk factor as well as care.
