Default with licences

can you have the animal in a room as long as the enclosure is locked etc or do you need to get a room set up for it,

depends entirely on the animal.

you have to have an enclosure that is viewed as adequate and safe by whoever is in charge of such things in your area.

they do not insist on room sized setups unless that animal needs one.

If that's not what you meant, have another go at asking and i'll have another go at answering

i think it's very much down to your local authority.

A lot (most probably) insist on you being able to see that the snake is still where it should be (ie in the enclosure) before you enter the room.

And yes, it's public liability insurance you need, also worth checking out if your life insurance will pay out in the even of the worst happening. you may also need to pay a higher rate with a specialist for that too.

the only guy i know with hot 's, has a glass/perspects cupboard thing inside his snake room, and inside that are locked vivs with snakes in. The glass/perspects cupboard thing is both alarmed and double locked. This was what the inspecter wanted.
