Thanks for the replies guys 'n' gals.
I know Pete and I am planning on going over to see him shortly to ask his advice (or ask Brian).
As for the c'pede. Although it may be part of the way there, I'm not sure I would gain the necessary experience to handle or keep snakes.

a centipede is good to get use to working with fast aggressive critters, but doesnt have any direct relavance to a snake, a snake is easier to handle for one.

'pedes are easy.

I find that a well placed boot heel does the trick

ok i am not going to say anything about the thing on centepedes training you up on venomous snakes, words just fail me

email me on pb@reptilecareuk.com if you wish to chat over dwa training, we do do it, lol so do shropshire as marie advertised, but we do have criteria you need to fill, this is due to the strong health and safety side, I am sure marie and rich do the same

i bet thats not the normal sort of risk assesment they see eh!

i did a section on hots with the advanced herp course i did a few years ago, (with some of the same people) was very interesting stuff, even though i don't keep dwa reptiles currently.

Yep, the risk assessments go on for ever, we have files full of them, but then I have spent days training regarding risk assessments as a manager within the health service and therefore found it easy to apply the same principles to venomous training as I have done for other dangerous procedures within a hospital setting such as administration of certain medications etc. It took us months to compile all of the risk assessments and several people contributed from different perspectives to ensure they were spot on.
