At the risk of sounding very silly indeed, what does ballasted mean?? I am interested in one of these for my 4x2x2 so 100watt would be fine, but I also have 2 4x15x15 and was wanting to use one for my juvi BTS so I guess I would need a 60watt, hence why I am asking about externally ballasted

I should have some in march time so that should be no problem.

The bulb needs a ballast to start it up the bulb, the externally ballasted produce verry little heat so will not upset any thermal gradient you have, with the externally balasted bulb it still needs to be 12 inches away form the basking spot this may or may not be a viable option dependant on the type of viv you have.

Maybe not for the smaller one. My larger one is about 22-23 inches high, will this be ok??

Cheers

is this a wooden viv? it will be tight viv at home is 24inches which means that the basking spot is only 4 inches high. the oter option that people have used i havenn't tried it so i cant recomend it is cut a hole in the top of your viv the size of your reflector and put the reflector outside the viv

Rachel
