best thing uv'e found lately is moddeling clay from toymaster.
comes in massive packs made about 15 hides for my baby boa's molded to size needed. dried them then varnished them worked a treat

its about 5.99 a block. not bad when you think thats pretty much the price for 1 shop bought.
