Default Bulb Guards

I just wondered why bulb guards are so expensive - I mean they're just a bit of metal mesh so why do they cost £15+ ?

Has anybody ever tried making their own? If so how did it go and where did you get the materials.

I know they're really important but they seem extortionate for what they are.

I got a sheet of wire mesh and the brackets and the m5 bolts and nuts and washers for under a tenner and made 2 so far.

just measure everything (unlike my first one lol) and you'll be fine.

One of the main reasons is they're pretty labour intensive to make.

I think this might be a new challenge for my father. I can't imagine they're that difficult to make even if they take a bit of time. He's retired so has loads of time and is really good at making stuff like this. The only problem is he doesn't like reptiles very much.

Is that for the bulb guard or the materials?
