I use metal locks on my bigger vivs which slide on and you tighten into place with a holding screw in about 30 seconds.... (where does the 10 mins come into it?!) and also rubber wedges on other vivs, not so much for security as such, but so that at a glance I know I've shut both doors securely

ive gotta pull the metal bit of the lock away from the glasss so i can slide the bit with the key in onto it
if i manage to pull it away from the glass then i stick a screwdriver behind it and push the lock along until it tightens i think my glass is too thick |

possibly.... my glass is I think only 4mm, and it slides into position no problem... I'd go for rubber wedges in your case - they do hold the doors together so neither one can slide anywhere. They don't look too bad, you just accept them for what they are really
