When i've been browsing various rep sites, ive come across fogger plates. Maybe its these that need replacing?

if it's an ultrasonic one, it's probably that the transducer is knackered, you just need to replace the metal plate, this is quite fiddly to do, because the nut is usually a bit of a bugger to get off

one other thing is you could try dipping the whole transducer in slightly warmed vinegar. for about 5 minutes, this will remove any hard water deposits and grease which have got onto the plate and extend it's life for a short while,
this does work i did it to mine last night.
