hi i have a 100w megaray bulb over my leopard tortoise hatchlings, the activity levels are great and they are eating well .i have used this since their birth in january and am more than happy with it .all my other tortoise hatchlings and juvenile leopards have had powersun and i cant fault them either.i have only been useing combi lamps for less than 12months but i am very pleased with the increased activity in particular over winter when access to sunlight is limited.

Megarays are great, I have a few.
Been using them for 2 years now. The level of visible light is a bit shi2 I must say, so for basking lizards an aditional [light as possible] basking bulb or other light source near the basking site is important i think.

I use a MegaRay/T-Rex (same bulb different names!) for my turts and I'm very pleased with it, I wouldnt recommend PowerSun though as I've heard too many reports of them failing, also in tests the MegaRay/T-Rex consistently comes out on top.

ok thanks all i think i will still go with the mega ray 160watt and put strip lights with it to get the best of both light spectrums, but use the mega ray as my uvb.

A good strategy is to use a UVB fluorescent for around 12 hours a day and a Megaray/MVB of choice for around 4 hours a day at midday to simulate the hottest part of the day (when the sun would be directly overhead); reptiles dont need maximum UVB exposure all day long. If you can fit more than one strip light in, perhaps a UVB strip and then a "natural" colour temperature tube as well to brighten up the cage? These are sold at quite a few lighting websites to counteract SAD (used in offices etc, as well as printing studios and places that need as accurate colour rendering as possible).

i was going to do the same i have put in one normal warm strip and one 4ft uv tube and the mega ray but i will take your advice on the mid day light like you say they dont have full exposure to full uvb all day long
