Of course I agree with that statement, but the point that the original poster made was that Habistats were vastly over priced.
My point is that you should not skimp on the most important single item of equipment.
They are expensive to manufacture but their function and reliablility is second to none.
Good quality thermostats are made from high quality components and are manufactured to a very high standard.
If you are cutting costs then something will suffer.

Technology behiod thermostats is not rocket science (but there are thermisters and potentiometers etc) but it's very important for our herps. At the end of the day resellers have to make their cut and Thermostats are not badly priced.
