Default Building a viv questions

Hi

Could anyone please give me a list of which woods are ok to build a viv with?

Was thinking a hardwood maybe oak?

How thick would the wood need to be 1cm?

How wide are the runners?

Was thinking of the following in 1cm thick oak

1 X (120cm x 38cm)
2 X (120cm x 40cm)
2 X (40cm x 40cm)
2 x (120cm x 5cm)

Does that sound about right?

Thanks

I would really like to build one with solid wood, like pine, oak or meranti is this possible? I have searched and searched and can't find any solid info to say that I can or I can't. I've read about sealing the wood and such but if there is any risk of it proving to be a prob for my snakes I think I'd rather go the herptek route.

I've had a quote for the oak, meranti and pine but I really don't wan2 fork out the money and space if I can't house my snakes in them.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Pete
