Who hear uses ceramics in wooden vivariums? Do you use the pendant type fittings that hook on to the roof via a hook screwed into the roof or do you use the screw on type fittings? Pictures would be great as I need ideas!

I've used both and even the fact that heat rises directly above it to my advantage to heat another viv on top for a ground dwelling lizard.

I was considering using the type from maplin that screw onto the roof directly and I'll be using a 150w on a pulse stat. Would this be likely to burn the wood?

What viv wood are you using? Did you know you can buy shields which dirct the heat downwards away from the viv?

Melamine. I know you can buy shields, but they wont work with the fittings from maplin. I could easily make my own shield but I was wondering if I needed to with a 150w? Again pictures of setups would help.

i use ceramics , but i screw the fitting to a small bit of wood then fix that to the roof of the viv

I screw the fittings directly to the roof of the viv. Very similar to those maplin fittings except they dont have the metal bracket, they have 2 holes on the inside of the fitting to put the screws through. I have them in both melamine and mdf vivs and the wood has not burnt.
