was just wondering can two heat mats be controlled from one mat stat.
i am looking into getting a heat mat to provide heat for my new roach colony when i get it. only problem is the heat mats i have seen have been too long and not wide enough, so therefore i want to use two short ones next to each other to get the width and the length correct. James |

Hi James,
The heat mats have specific wattages dependant on size, for instance the 23x11 is 28 watts. The mat stat can control up to 100w and the temperature thermostat can cope with up to 300w, so just keep this in mind when using your mats. But yes several can be connected to one stat, just be aware you only have one probe. reptilekeeping.com - Home |

thanks for the replys.
the heat mats i have seen are the ones that someone posted on here that are on ebay going cheap. the size i think i will get is the 23x6 15 watts. the other option is way too long for what i need. so i am just going to buy two 23x6 i think. hopefully i can manage to control both mats effectively on one mat stat. or do you think it would better to have the extra length wasted and have it easier to control on one mat stat. the longer version is 47x11. the 47 inches is very long but the 11 would give coverage under the plastic tubs for the roaches. thanks for the help James |

if both heatmats are for the roach colony then yes it will be fine, but if you are useing say one in the roach colony and one in a viv or somethign like that they will idealy need seperat stats because the stat will only be able to measure the temperature in one of the enclosures..
