Default Exo Terra Night Glo

Would a 15 watt Night glo bulb get hot enough to require a bulb guard? Does it provide enough light to stimulate day/night cycling to a nocturnal animal if it is then turned off completely during the night

P.S. light is only for viewing purposes hence why it is such a low wattage

Its just for my new king's viv (possibly). So would you recommend having a bulb guard surrounding it then as he does tend to adventure towards the light occasionally? what kind of lighting arrangement would you suggest? It doesnt need to be particularly heat emmiting and not too extravagently expensive lol? Thanks
