Default Ceramics or heat mat?

Can't decide how to heat my Sand Geckos new vivarium. It'll be 24" x 18" x 12" and the options are ceramics or a heatmat, but I can't decide which (I'll copy Jinx and use an energy efficient bulb for lighting). Help me someone! Which would you chose and why?

I would use a heatmat because in the long run its cheaper and does the same job...
