Default Heat Mat Heating Time

I have a 11"x11" 12 watt heat mat, does any one know how long it will take to heat up because at the moment its just like luke warm and its been plugged in for about 15 min.

i think thats how they are supposed to be, mine is the same, mines a habistat one

I think they seem 'luke warm' to us because our body temperture closly matches the temperture of the mat?

what basking temp does yours give?

i dont use mine, but when i did it was the same, never too the temps tbh

Well good News...Its heating Up nicely Now, I put a t-shirt over it to replicate the lino I'll be using and its nice and warm

But cant be sure of the temps, my thermometer aint here yet!

my matt is on full power and has been for a day or summin to test temp etc, got nothin on it and it feel hot.. but can have my hand on it for ages and doesnt burn but is 'hot' n not warm.. hope this helps

umm... 40 odd? its habistat one, 11"x35", i know its a much higher wattage but is 3times the size so i woulda thought it should give the same surface temps?

Hi all,

If the matt feels warm to you it is to hot for the snake, just put a digi thermometer on it, don't use it till you get your thermometer.
