Default Ceramics - Again!

Seen a fix ceramic heater bit of kit - think is Arcadia - just wondered if anyone had one and how they rated it ? Also, would the Exo-Terra ceramic bits fit it or just Arcadias own bits.

Do they do cage for it two?

Cheers people!

Gah! Mates just emailed me with confirmation it's not what he told me. It's a normal compact light holder just happens to have parts made of ceramic ... not FOR ceramic.

And I thought I might have found something cool. Gah.

Maplin > BC (B22d) Porcelain Lampholder

OK - so, got a relatively low viv that I don't want to put a spot in but want to use a 250W ExoTerra ceramic on a pulse. Can't have a dangly chain and cable type ceramic cage etc as, well, it'd be on the floor of the viv!

So - would the above diffuse the conductive heat enough? I'm wanting it as a fixed point like a normal light fitting (Which there was already one of in there but I've removed.

Anyone know if the item in the link would be suitable? (Using the correct high temp cable and cage guard of course?)

if using a ceramic with it get a metal plate or something else to reflect the rising heat and I have the same fitting with a 60w bulb and the heat get's through the top and that's heating a 2ft viv to 29 degrees

Was going to get a reflector too just to make it more efficient.

Maybe I'll rethink and got for a dimmer with a normal bulb in it ... Hmmm .... Ponder. Sometimes I wonder if the ceramic is there to just confuse and infuriate people!

In the process of setting up a 48"x15"x15" viv for a Beardie. Gonna get a young un so the viv size won't be a problem until he's older, at which point he'll get a newer bigger viv and my royal will move into the one at the moment (As he's too small at the moment and happy in his RUB!)

i use that exact fitment in one of my viv. i have an exo terra ir bulb running through a dimming stat and works a treat. i dont have any reflectors on it just a cage. after over a year of use there is no marks or signs of the wood getting scorched.

Running a ceramic through a dimmer? Didn't think you could do that?

Any problems with the temps at all? Kept at a nice constant is it?

YOU CAN RUN A CERAMIC OFF A DIMMER OR A PULSE BUT YOU CAN ONLY USE A DIMMER IF IT IS A LIGHT EMMITING LAMP.
YES TEMPS ARE GREAT HOLDS NICE AND STEADY ON DAY AND NIGHT MODE.
