Well the RSPCA think all pets make bad pets, cats and dogs included most of the time
Mine are far easier to look after than my cats or dogs that's for sure, certainly no harder than looking after any rodent such as rats, rabbits, guinea pigs - in fact a bit easier if anything!
I hope that a day comes when breeding can match demand, they make a much better pet than most animals that are sold in reptile stores, it's just a shame that they are not perhaps the easiest thing to breed which is why prices remain high.
Considering you are going to pay £80-250 for an APH depending on the age, sex, and colour... and they don't have long lifespans, I can't see that many people chucking them out on the streets...I think the RSPCA should focus on worrying about finding all the cats & dogs homes than making outrageous predictions for the future of other species.
The APH is not a foreign species, it's actually a totally new species that does not exist in the wild, it's a crossbreed between 2 african species..we're not technically introducing a foreign species, we've created an ideal pet species

I'm guessing that would be a whole new moral debate for the antis though.
