Default Exotic Pet Insurance

After reading about Tatty, I've decided to get some insurance for Mr Snuggles, just so that if he were to get ill, I wouldn't have to worry about vet bills.

Can anybody recommend a good company? I've had a quote of £172 for a year which covers death, theft and £2000 vet bills.

i dont actually have insurance

with having 7 dogs, 1 cat, ferrets, skunk, gliders, hedgehogs and all the other rodent pets it would cost the earth for all mine

what i do is pay a weekly amount to the vets and build up credit with them

so if anything should happen then all i have to do is take them in for treatment

1 where i take the skunks and exotics and 1 where i take the cat, dogs an other not exotics

the only company that dose exotic mammals is exotics direct altho i am with them i dont like them as it only covers what you said at the top and has flaws like if one of your other pets hurt it the company dosent cover it it covers theft but only if it was in your house and you can proove a breakin etc and only £2000 vet bills but thats the best on offer

I might see what my vet say about building up some credit, that would make sense to me too as we have over 40 animals. Or, thinking about it, I suppose I could just put something by each month myself into a vet account.

I'm pretty sure I've had dealings with exotic direct in the past, and heard that they can be awkward over paying out.

We have a 'farm' account with our vets for which we pay the princely sum of 17p a month if we are in arrears. It's great, it means we can pay as little or as much as we like and don't have to worry about being able to 'afford' the vet fee should a visit be required.

Been chatting to him indoors, and I've decided that I'm probably going to set up a savings account and put money in there by standing order every month. If at the end of the year I've not used it for any vet bills, I can get another animal or upgrade a viv or something.
