Default ferret training

Hi guys, i have recently started trick training my ferret; Frodo.

he is 5months old, already comes to his name, walks well on a lead and spins.

he is currently learning roll over and target training which we will progress to heel work and other such oddities.

here is a vid of his antics - let me know what you think?

also check out his photo album in the photo section.

Great job

My ferrets would rather try and bite my fingers off for their treats

Thanks hun!

he is very quick to learn - where he spends more time with people than other ferrets he is also very eager to please

Aaaaaaaaah well done you for having the patience to teach him... I know only too well how long it takes to teach them to do what you want...

Mine answers his name only when the calling is accompanied by the sound of the bag of treats, otherwise you would think he is deaf . He is pretty good on the leash, though.

That is impressive. I found with my first ferret because it was a 1-on-1 relationship between me and him he got very good at following me around off-lead and coming when called. He also did the typical beg meerkat pose for a treat and rolled-over. My current pair (his son's actually) are far more interested in playing with each other than learning tricks! Laurel is a bit dense bless him. Hardy is much more intelligent and happily begs for treats and I'm trying to teach him to jump through a hoop for a bit of fun. He's getting it slowly. Laurel trys to copy but he has no jumping skills!
