He didn't make it I tried my best but was fighting a losing battle. I have higher hopes for her next litter.

Aww, I'm really sorry! I've been checking this thread for days waiting for an update, but was finding it hard to think "no news is good news" given how tiny and young he was.

I just checked it about 5 minutes before you posted and so I've just come back again to check.

I hope you're right and you have better luck with her next litter!

please dont take this as critisism, as its not, its just curiosity, but how come you didnt leave it with the mother? does she not rear them her self? this is just a question by the way, so please dont take it the wrong way

poor little guy, so sorry to hear the news, you did your best!!

There's a thread in the exotics section about it, unfortunately she ate the first baby, and then abandoned this one so it was his only chance and never a very good one. Apparently it happens frequently with hedgehog mothers first litters.

On a more positive note I know there are 2 babies in the nest with another female and although it's her first litter too, she doesn't seem to have abandoned them or eaten them yet.. can't get any pics of those for about 3 weeks though as the hogs are very easily stressed and if i go near the nest it's babies for lunch.
