Why? Because she has got loads of of experienced people willing to offer her advice out of good will and to help her improve the wellbeing of the marmoset? Just because not everyones replied saying 'oooooh and aaaaah and how cute - i wish i owned one' doesnt mean shes being attacked surely?

if she brings it into this thread, and i want to take it up, i will do so, with or without your say so, wherever i see fit.

actually i attacked your attitude towards buying and selling animals, where you state its the buyers problem, not the sellers..

when we should be promoting responsible sales.. good grief.. its people like you who will get internet sales banned, and tbh.. it won't be all a bad thing if it does happen.

stoop as low as i do.. where is that then? i meant everyword i said to you, and i would as happily say it to you in person as i would online. i could have stooped a lot lower tbh, and if needs must at any time..

as for age, i am 34 in a few weeks...

tho tbh, i know 13yr olds on here who have a better attitude towards animal keeping and husbandry than you do, so for me the number on your birth certificate is relatively meaningless.

as for feel sorry for kitty... don't make me laugh... i feel sorry for the poor underage solo lonely unsocialised (to its own species) marmoset she has in her front room

but then i care more about the animals feelings than i do hers.. or yours for that matter.

nice response anne... nice ethic there.

so we sell to any tom dick and harry do we? because its the buyer who has to deal with anything in the future after all.. its their problem.. right? thats what you are saying?

so as a seller, who gives a toss about who buys your animal.. as its them who has to pick up the crap in the future?????

sod what the animal needs, or what it wants... we'll just hand them out to the first person who comes up with the money?

all i can say is thank god we vet our buyers..

just to add... by posting, you are contributing to keeping the "long winded" discussion going you know

N

Totally agree with everything you have said their

It shouldnt be just left to the person that bought the animal if she bought the animal off a reputable breeder then that breeder should of signed a contract with her stating care of the animal and if this should no longer be able to happen the animal should be returned to the breeder blah blah...........the agreement should also include that there is life long help there for the buyer should it be needed (sadly this dsnt always happen)

I have signed agreements for 3 of my dogs stating the above and more on some of the contracts

To Annewynne, i don't believe we as a community have ganged up on Kitty, nor yourself. to put it simply the correct advice has been offered and you have taken it as a personal attack.... and i know some people have made their point in a heated way but the point is ..... they were right in the first place regardless of the anger in their delivery.
When people on here say 'it needs to be kept in a pair or small group' they are absolutely right. but if you peruse through the snake section of this forum we also discourage keeping snakes in pairs and groups as these are solitary animals and CAN exhibit signs of stress or to a more sever degree.... cannibalism.

The fact of the matter here is that us as an animal keeping community often don't give a stuff about people.... animals are our lives. you should be thankful that there are people as passionate about these animals you claim to love so much you would risk its mental wellbieng by keeping it alone.

And as for Kitty, I can perfectly understand the allure of primate keeping, but i feel a bit more research was needed, and this animal, no matter how you slice it WAS an 'impulse buy'. and i will not hear otherwise, if it was not an impulse buy then the research prior to purchase would have made it clear that they need a social group of their own kind to thrive in a captive setting.

It is Cruel and downright selfish to keep a primate singly unless circumstances promote this ie has been thrown out of a grioup. even in this case efforts should be made to introduce this animal to a new group.

I only hope Kitty researches some more and provides this animal what it needs, she will enjoy the experience of primate keeping a lot more if she does. and as for you Annewynne, take this thred on board. it is VERY pretentious for you to think this boils down to the humans involved.

I think she has been ganged up on a bit, but im afraid its her own fault, because she didnt accept the constructive critisism, very knowledgable people tried to help out but she wasnt prepared to listen to start with.
