Default stupid i know

well got mice in for breeding few months ago, and have a few pregnant mice now. one had babies saturday just went to check and another mouse was attacking a baby so took all the pinkies out, thought well snakes might aswell get them before the mice do.

the silly thing is i now feel really bad. im bout in tears. hearing the poor things squeek then being flicked (i didnt do it i couldnt)

does it get any easier???? not sure i can do this anymore.

The first time honestly feels like murder and really sucks. It does get easier though, try to keep in mind your providing a better meal than you could probably buy from any shop for your snake, that may help you rationalise it somewhat. I'm not really that fussed anymore about it, its never a pleasent part of my day when I have a feeder culling but I now tend to look at my selected feeder individuals as appropiate sizes for who rather than cute little babys, morbid maybe but it helps.

i used to bred mice.. and in a few cases.. had to remove the babies... at the time i didnt keep snakes so had no use for the babies..

from what im told.. as pinkies they get cold VERY fast.. and die anyway... and are so undeveloped.. freezing causes no pain anyway..

u cant gas them as they dont breath too much (obviously being stuck under mum.. lack of breath isnt an issue)

and flicking on the head works 99% of the time...

it never gets easier... but it does ebcome mroe natural... you come to terms with the fact you HAVE to do it as you cant realy hand feed a pinky . too small.. so killing it is helping both the mum .. less stress on her.. the pinky.. not getting savaged.. adn the fact you have a snake that can benefit from it.. adds to it

peace

James

p.s hope you feel better

HMMMMM i know i'm gona sound evil here but i don't like mice and rats.
I mean they are 'cute' but since we had them in the garage they put the creeps up me, so i could do it.

Infact i have a load of 'small baby mice' whatever that means, coming of my dads mate who breeds.

Dunno if they will be dead already but if not . . . quick bach to the head ! LOL I sound eveil !

Because the pinks are so small a quick flick to the head will kill them.
