Default Feeders

Right i currently need to feed:

3 leopard geckos
2 rankins dragons
3 pygmy chams (i use small crickets / fruit flys for these so they are covered)
1 crested gecko
1 veiled chameleons
and soon to be...a bearded dragon.

My livefood bills are starting to get pretty expensive, im breeding the cresty and leos and will be breeding the rankins eventually, so im going to end up needing more food in the future.

So I really need to think about breeding my own food for them. I dont really like crickets so what other choices do I have?

Thought about...
locusts or
roaches? what kinds?

Not really sure what else i could use to feed everything...

Decided to go for locusts. Brought some big plastic boxs and a heatmat to run across them at one end.

Getting 50 large locust delivered tomorrow to start me off. Will see how I get on!

Will do. I really hope this works, would mean ive got locusts available in every size and hopefully have plently of them.

Just another question.. is 50 adults a decent starting colony? Can i expect a decent amount of babies from them?

I would think so, What are you using for lying boxes? and what substate in them? Sand is really good and cheap needs to be about 6inches deep.

Have you read up on them?

EDIT: moist sand! >_<

Im keeping them in 24L boxes with mesh lids for ventilation, then going to provide 2 or 3 pint glasses filled with moist sand.

Have read quite a lot about them, have read that you need to keep them hot and keep the humidity down, give them egg cartons to hide in and fresh salad to eat.

Sound good?

they like it VERY hot.they should really have a heat bulb at one end and a heat mat at the other. hiding places (egg crates ) multiple laying boxes at hot end and get damp

Try breeding roaches and mealworms too, theyre meant to be a lot easier! i managed to breed mealies by leaving the tub in a cupboard and not touching for a couple of weeks!

Will see how I get on with locusts as everyone seems to like them. Then might give roaches a try if I dont succeed!
