If you take the male out you MAY find the females will kill him when you try to put him back. It depends on the temperament of the females.

If you take him out the way to reintroduce the two females to him would be to put them into the box he is in at the time.

Personally I havent' had any problems. I pop my mice between tubs all the time but the 'rule of thumb', to be safe, is to introduce the females into the males domain as they can be quite territorial.

If you are wanting to breed for food you willl find many, or all, feeder breeders keep their trio's in together 24/7.

Either way there is a risk:

If you leave the male with the mothers and pups the father MAY kill the pups and mate with the too quick females. (If you have a very tame and docile male then try to leave him with the pups)
If you take the male away and try to re-intro, the females may not take the male.

My personal preference would be to take away the father and let the females have at *least* a week and a half before litters, if you re-mate them to early you will have big chance of the mother not having the strength to give birth and raise the pups.

(I WAS a mouse and rat breeder for a few years, had alot of experience)

Good luck.

Worked on a rodent farm for 5 years, Leave them all together as one happy family but if both the litters are at different ages then the older will survive and the younger will not. We had over 2500 cages so it was impossible to take bucks out.

If you took the male out and then put him back there would be hell to pay
