Hi all and thanks in advance for any help.
I purchased a 50lt clear container with lid (which i have cut large hole in and fitted with mess) with the plan of breeding black crickets.
I have watched untold youtube how to vids and read how to sheets from rfuk,
i filled the bottom of the container with multi-purpose compost a small bowl with bug gel and a second bowl with crushed cat biscuits and finally two tubs of adult black crickets.
its been five days now and all but five are alive and seem to ok, few have dug into soil but am unable to see if there are any eggs, but have noticed 1 or 2 have turned white, is this due to high humidity?
My main questions are:
- do i take all the crickets out after 7 days and see what happens and start process again in separate container.
- would they eat the eggs as soon as they are laid if any have been.
- how long is the process from being laid to hatching
- and is the mesh method on top of a soil filled container a better way.
Sorry there are so many questions.
Thanks again Matt
