Default Roaches

Are roaches hard to breed? and which ones are best as feeders (ive had dubias recommended by a regular here) i have a juv beardie who eats like a pig, a large bullfrog and 4 spare set ups which hopefully i'll be filling with a BTS and some berbers skinks for now. I also have a mate who has a BTS and a juv bosc who's interested in keeping some for feeders

So im thinking a colony of roaches is going to be alot cheaper...just not sure what their requirements are...and how do you stop them from escaping and taking over the house? LOL

And are they a suitable food for all of the above?

Cheers

I've just set up a group myself.

I grabbed a plastic tub from Wilkinsons, drilled some small holes near the top for ventilation, pilled some egg crate in the bottom and stuck it over an old heatmat.
Also put in two small dishes. One for water crystals and the other for food. Bought my first lot off ebay but I've kindly been giving links and advice on where to get more cheaper.

I'm pretty sure they make a good food item for just about everything

I understood they didnt but I could be wrong. I thought lobster roaches were harder to keep contained, especially when dealing with them. Someone should be able to clear this up.

B.Dubia dont climb but lobsters do. However lobsters are faster breeders than B.Dubia so you decide what your priority is. Personally I prefer the non-climbers but thats my personal choice.

Lobsters are also faster movers so your rep will need to move faster to catch them.

Good choice Muze. I have to say, i am so glad to be rid of crickets, they are horrid things. Good luck with the roaches.
