Default Types Of Crickets??

Hi, just wondering how many different types of crickets there are for feeder food?
I've found Black, Brown and now banded.
Doe's anyone know what the pro's & con's are of each?
I dont think its just me but the banded are so bl**dy fast and there jump is awesome!!

Browns jump alot more and tewnd to climb
blacks tend to not jump as much but are runchier
Bandeds do half and half of the back and the brown, they are a crossbreed

I prefer blacks myself and IME they don't die in as much numbers when you refridgerate them before feeding them to your reps.

Hi, thanks. But why would you refridgerate them?
Probably to slow them down i can imagine!!

I only place them in the fridge temporarily to slow them down particulalry if transfering them from one container to another or prior to feeding. They do not remain slowed for long!

I do not feel it would be a good idea to keep them in the fridge longer than necessary as you may well kill them, although I would be happy to be corrected on this point.

On the other hand, on the subject of wax worms, I constantly keep them in the fridge as this slows their progression to pupae and therefore allows you to keep them significantly longer.

Fridge for 1 minute slows them down so if they escape when the tub's open you can catch them easily.

apparently banded's have like an extra spiny growth which can harm the insides of very weak reptiles...not sure what it is though
