Default Roaches?

Hi, me again. Sorry if this is stupid but when people say roaches do they mean cockroaches?
If so are they not expensive to use as feeder food?
Just 2 more questions can i feed them to beardies aswell as leos?
Also where can i buy them seeing as i have never seen them anywhere?

Thanks alot

Yes, we mean cockroaches - though not the kind that tend to infest houses.

Once you get a breeding colony going (and that, depending on species, can be easy or hard) they're cheaper than crickets.

Yes, they can be fed to any insectivorous lizard that'll eat them - but you'd want to try your lizards with them before going all out and getting a colony going, since you might find they don't like them (unlikely - mine will practically bite my fingers off to get into the roach tub).

There's a few folk on here who sell roaches - try Rickeezee.

I have started a roach colony, got the starter from Rickeezee. Had a very prompt service. Both my gecko and my beardie love them, and my gecko is fussy! Early days though, still waiting for the colony to grow and stabilise. They are easy to handle and less smelly than the crickets or locusts. I am quite pleased with the progress but I suspect it will take a couple of months or more before I have enough to start any feeding.

There is a lot of useful info on the forum. I have made a home made roach hotel from cork tiles and nuts and bolts and now keep them in a dark corner in a glass viv, (one my beardie had grown out of!), with a heat mat. Since using the heat mat they seem a lot more active and hopefully the activity includes making lots of baby roaches

Blaptica Dubia Roaches. If I am successful I will let you know. The link I have provided above was very helpful.
