Planning on discus cichlids ??.Where area in the UK is your cuz based basically a RO-unit makes hard water soft.If your coz is based in a soft water area the only thing he/she would need in a HMA-unit to take the toxins out of the water.

Probably a marine tank mate, you cant really use anything other than RO on one.

RO water is the purest water you can get (I think), its 98% clean from all chlorine, chloramine, nitrates, nitrite, amonia, copper and so on....

I have started using it in my planted aquarium to keep the phosphate levels down too (and to hopefully get the cichlid rams breeding)

It is advisable to use in marine tanks as fish and corals are far more sensative to foreign objects in the water than coldwater and tropical fish.

if it is for a marine tank. DO NOT store spare water in copper vats. I know a bloke who did it and couldn't inderstand why his inverts kept dying
