what's the tank size?

Probably would seperate them. either different tanks or use egg crate. Will stop the male killing the female. If she isn't ready to breed then he will have a go till she can't keep up

if you do manage some babies let me know. Im looking for a few new dovii. Don't wanna pair up my babies as they are related, and my two big males are looking at their ladies a bit funny.

well they have been together for 24 hours now,, and seem to be getting on fine,, they are always swiming together and they stoped fighting.. they have also made a cave together so all it good at the moment,,,the tank size is 6ft by 2 .. which at the moment is big enough as the male is about 8 inch and the female about 5... so as i free up some cash im hoping to get at least a 8footer... the only thing that concerns me is the amount of alge in the tank,, there aint loads but im sure there is enough to have a affect on any eggs/fry they might produce.. done a nitrite,, anomnia and nitrate test today and everythink was perfect so any suggestions to what i could do to get the alge levels down

check your phosphate levels. also how long is the lighting left on? and what type of lighting.

keep a very close eye on them. I lost my first female because i thought they were getting on. What i do now is keep them seperated when i can't keep an eye on them but take out the divider when im there. so theyre divided while im at work and asleep etc but together when im in the fish room. seems to keep them happy without trying to kill each other.

If you get fight problems get a big tank or seperate them with egg crate. Don't lose the female they aren't particuarly esy to get hold of due to the makes hobby of killing them. Well you can find substandard ones quite a lot but real quality ones are hard to find

test your phosphate level then. or just wack some phosphate remover in your filter.

What you can do is build a little cave that she can get in but he cant. That way she can hide from him when he's in a bad mood
