Stuff you need to know about Blue lobsters | Practical Fishkeeping magazine Have a read. There are plenty of crabs that are kept in tanks. Rainbow crabs are, I believe, entirely freshwater. Have a search if your interested. Other crabs, as esfa says, tend to be brackish. There are also some freshwater shrimps.. which esfa can tell you about ( ), and some brackish ones I think. Tbh, if your interested in a brackish set up, with crabs and things, have a read and have a go. Its not really any harder than a freshwater, except you just need to make (and keep) the water salty, at the right salinity. |

you want to make sure the fish are not bottom dwellers and have a bit of spunk to them. my mate had one and it was always tring to catch his red tailed black shark, his plec was re-homed. great creatures just teritorial. make sure you choose your fish/tank mates better than him.

If your keeping crustaceians (not sure if I spelt it right
) you really want to keep just one species and no fish, most will end up eating your fish, no matter how fast your fish are they get got in the end.I used to have a small crab in one of my tanks, the tank was tall and had tall plants, the crab would climb to the top, and kind of jump of the plants and do a sky diver type float to the bottom snapping at the fish on the way down. Id say go for Blue lobster, they look great when they get to a cirtian size, bright blue, I havent kept them before, just crabs and shrimp. Im not sure if you can keep them with others. |
