All of the sword tails in shops are (as are most fish) horribly inbred already.
So yes, the more you inbreed them, the more the chance of deformities there are. They can get tail deformities, spinal ones are quite common, and swim bladder ones. But, tbh, its not the end of the world. If there are some deformed one, which dont die pretty sharpish, put them to sleep if you like.

It happens with tank fish you cant stop it either way unless you remove every member of the opposite sex and with some species that can be hard to do. Ive never had any problems from inbreeding fish and never heard of it with other people. However some genetic diversity may be good for them.

Yeah, in the wild they would also inbreed but females tend to show a preference for unrelated males. Many species of fish inbreed even in the wild, but there is nearly always outbreeding every few generations.
Oh, and a long sword doesn't mean inbreeding necessarily. Wild green swords have the longest, straightest tails...generally the 'unfittest' (either in health or sexual attractiveness) will have bent or mishapen tails...! But, yeah, don't worry too much if they breed!!!
