Default First fish :)

We set up our tank yesterday, this morning we had a milk bottle full of established tank water and the filter media.
Our first fish to go in were 5 black neon tetras and 5 glowlight tetras
Planning on getting 5 more of each. They are so small they look lost in the tank lol!
Settled in well, even enjoyed some food!

I have to admit, pets at home are really improving! They had sooo many types of tetra it was hard to choose!

I did see some red gourami though which were REALLY nice! It said they were peaceful and only grow to 5cm, anyone know what they are?
Would they be suitable for a community tank?

Thanks

sound like dwarf gouramis... most gouramis are good community fish.

make sure you leave it a couple of weeks before you get the new fish though give the first ones time to settle, and the water chemistry to even itself out..

im not trying to to put you off but... dwarf gourami's are very suseptable to ulcers and are hard to treat. sadly we had to "help ours on their way" to stop suffering.

on the other hand you could get some and not have a single problem.

good luck

p.s larger gouramis tend not to get ulcers and are just as peacefull
and pretty

if it's red, it could be a honey gourami. a much nicer specimin, and doesn't carry the dwarf gourami disease.

Go google them and see what it was. if it's a honey, go get one if you want. If it's a dwarf, i'd stay away.

edit:
honey gourami

dwarf gourami

I dont like kissing ones, or the ones in the pics lol.

I think it might of been a red robin gourami? Thats the name I just saw on another forum..?

I like sparkling gourami too.
