Default help with red tail shark

hi i have a red tail shark, which ive had for awhile now, its started to attack my other fish.
its attacked 3 golden barbs and a neon.mostly fin nipping but has killed them.
could some-one please let me know what to do?

red tailed sharks need quiet a big of tank room or they will fight and become a gressive.

Get rid of it, they may look nice but they will pick on just about any tank mate.

agree with the above we always used to have them returned to the shop...they are very territorial(sp) when bigger ...ok in very large tank with robust fish though

Redtail sharks and tiger barbs should be nuked from orbit Flush it down the bog

Its not fair to say get rid of it - that isn't helping anyone is it? The problem is the shark has probably gotten used to any old guys that have died and these newcomers are seen as a threat to his territory. You need to rearrange all the decor in your tank to disrupt any established territories. The shark will be more bothered about this than any fish he might encounter. Yes they are agressive, but only in certain circumstances.

That may help to a limited extent... but its not a type of fish who has a defined terriatory (sp), so although that will distract him for a period of time, in the long run he will continue to fin nip, almost certainly.

So, as everyone else has said, best option is to get rid of him. NOT flush him though... take him back to the shop, and swap him for something smaller and less agressive. They do need quite large tanks to be happy.

i have a RTS n i have to say its never been aggresive...i think it thinks its a cory sometimes as it swims about with them!!! but never had any problems atall not even when feeding! must b lucky i guess!!!
dnt flush it tho lol...go swop it!

its kept in a 24x12x18 tank with 1 golden barb and 3-4 neons. its only just started doing it. i fort it might not be getting enough food
