Electrophorus Electricus - my favorite! - They give off three different types of charge - they give off a buzz - really mild shock as if to say "I'm here", next one hurts a bit - a warning shot as if to say "get the hell outta my tank"!, next is the hunting shock when he really wants to kill/stun his prey - adults have been known to give off around 800 volts!

Haha, nice one. So you just going to be really careful when cleaning? Its not like you can isolate him...?

Very cool. Apparently during some war, they used to stampede horses through the water/marshes to disturb the electric eels enough to discharge all their store into the horses (which, being big enough, were mainly OK), so that then the soilders could alk through the water/marshes without fear... how nice

Most certainly real and yep they sure do shock!

The fishy monsters you can buy is silly! Yet it's good how the reptile world has DWA restrictions.

Anything up to 8ft although others in capivity in zoos only seem to reach 5-6ft from the ones I've contacted.

lol, in that case have a look at this pic.

Thats when the big tank was properly stocked, but I ran out of time they took up and needed the money so sold them all. Also sold on my P. Schroedi, was sad to let her go after everything she had been through.

Oh and I got him from Wildwoods at the beginning of last year at 15" for £15 quid, was the last one they had which was reduced. I see they have more now at £65 a shot :o
