Default Big fish

who keeps big fish? Big cats, large cichlids arowana etc? I know there's a few.

Oh and no arguments please. Nice discussion about what you keep. If you've got a nice comment to make, go for it. If you're just gonna criticise don't bother. This means not having a go at someone because you think they aren't doing it right. That isn't the point of this thread, ok? Oh and no stupid posts with pics of great whites, or stuff like little guppies because you think it's funny. It's not.

Right, I've got/had in the past:

A lot of big cichlids (look at my signature)
Giant gourami
Clarius catfish
Big plecos
Freshwater rays
Knifefish (ghosts and clowns)
Red tail catfish
Giraffe catfish
Big birchirs (a few different species)
Snakeheads (a few of these as well)
Datnoids
Pike characins
Pangasius catfish
A few leporinius
Tiger shovelnose
S. Lima (the standard shovelnose)
Gars
Mbu Puffer
asian sun cat
and i looked after a 3 foot arapaima for 8 weeks.
oh and a few pacu but they were 17 year old rescues and lasted a few weeks because they were f**ked due to lack of care at the previous owners

Oh?! Difference in opinion there

Biggest fish I have kept is a bala shark, which reached 8/9" or something, and some big goldfish! haha... oh, I had a large-ish frontosa...

I've had common and gibbi plecs. Got a delhezi bichir atm. That's about it.

Oh, had a swamp eel once. Pretty hardcore for me.

I honestly SWEAR I am not trying to argue, very nice looking fish... but what are you doing with them as adults??

I have been working at london aquarium last few weeks, we had a giraffe catfish come in as it had outgrown its tank... and the man was like "yeh, I have a couple more too"... I wanted to say "what you doing with them then after???!!".

i no longer have any fish but used to be in to them in a big way, large fish wise i had a pair of silver arrowanas that i re-homed to a guy with a heated pool as they were kind of rescues i took on and soon outgrew my 6x2x2 aquarium, i had a lovely trio of oscars too a pair of albino tigers and one standard tiger oscar...BUT my single most favourite fish i have ever had was my Tilapia Butterkofferi!! he was such a charecter! absolute pure evil though! he would attack me through the glass...and would tear lumps out of me at any opportunity! (in tank maintenance, internal filter changing etc lol) but what a fish! he was more agressive than any Dovii i have seen and they are dubbed one of the nastiest of cichlids tempremant wise but i never met any that would literaly jump half out of the water to get at you! or try chewing through the glass to get to you over time he did become accustomed to me but i was still not allowed to enter HIS water without a fight!! i have sworn to myself once we get moved and have room for another 6x2x2 i WILL get another one!...oh he was around 14-16in btw but soooo powerful....i miss my TB
