For some strange reason since they changed the format my PC just totally went after a few weeks i gave up trying. I think i made one post after the change to say i'd got back ok, and then my pc threw an eppy

just hit me
i can make an under gravel filter for the tank out of the existing filter gear as it all comes apart do you think that would be a good idea?

Nah undergravel filters hold there own nightmares (impaction and again ammonia problems), your better off with an internal powerfilter.
Plus as stated, you need extra filtering not just moving the existing one, how would that aid the tank?

sorry i misunderstood, as you said use parts from the existing gear?

ah sprry i ment i can make a undergravel filter uisng the riser tube and pump that out existing filter uses

my step dad used to keep tropicals and swears by undergravels and all the fish shops seem too use em are they really that bad??

They aren't the best. Can use them alongside an internal filter though.

was thinking that. set up an undergravel and get an inside filter as well
