This will be the fourth tank he has had now, everytime I buy a new one he simply grows, and they are getting expensive now, the cheapest one of the next size up +equipment is £350 or $700, and I simply dont have that sort of cash to spend on a fish. Also I only have a small house, theres not really anywhere I got put a larger tank.

I do use the water treatment, the cholrine remover etc... He seems to have picked up since the last water change, maybe the last few have just been a bit off???

If you cannot care for his needs then you need to give him or sell him to someone who can. This fish will continue to outgrow his containers its a fact of life. He will not stop simply because you do not want him to.

If you dont have the room for propper housing maybe you should give him to someone who can care for him. You wouldnt keep a retic in a 3 foot tank because you could smoosh him in

You all seem to very opinionated on the matter, it was a gold fish that cost 79p. (Less than $1)

If you would like to donate some money please feel free, I'll buy a bigger house, with a pond!!!

So far I spent in total neary £400 already if you count 4 tanks, 4 different sized filters and decoration. Thats alot on a fish that cost 79p.

If we all seem opinionated its because you seem very poorly educated in fish keeping and we are all looking out for the best interest of the fish because you don't sound in your posts as if you care very much. That you would rather the fish just died.

Regardless of how much that life cost in the beginning or how much you have spent so far you have a moral obligation to care for it and to provide for its needs.

I got my dog for free because she was sick, does that mean i still have to walk her and feed her???? I've spent oo000 around about the same amount of money on her so far in her three years of life as you have your fish does that mean i should stop caring now and throw her out on to the streets to fend for herself??

I agree with Marina. I didn't pay for my corn, someone else did. Does that mean I can keep her in a shoebox with no heatmat or hides, because she was cheap? Nope!

A fish is a living creature which feels pain. How would you like being kept in a cupboard for the rest of your life?

Thats right, I'm am the worst owner ever!

5 Years of care
Countless hours of cleaning
Countless hours of water testing
£££'s of equiptment
1 extremly health fish.

Clearly I should be banned from keeping animals forever with a record like that!!!

OR
Your being a tad obsessive

You'll be glad to know since the last water change the fish seems perfectly happy again, maybe the last one I got the mixture wrong, or it was just bad water.

As for buying a new tank, I consider it when the spare cash becomes available.

I'm not dissing you or anything, but your goldie cant be "extremely healthy" if you are having to made a post about it, and if it has not got enough room.

People seem to think of goldfish as a begginers fish, when in fact they can be more difficult then tropicals.
