OMG talk about martyrdom!!!! Your "Oh woe is me "attitude stinks. Do you want a medal for the 5yrs care of the fish and the countless £££'s you have spent on it!!!

Basically the point remains care for the fish as it requires or give it to someone who will. Oh and be aware that you have approx another 15 years in that fish and no doubt will spend 15 further years cleaning and 15 more years forking out £££'s!!!

FIGHT!!!!!!! FIGHT!!!!!!

bigger tank or give him to someone with a pond. maybe you could pick up a bargain on here or ebay (e.g. im obviously too far away but im selling a 3ft tank with double filtration for £60)

ive got a goldfish in my pond that im sure i must have had for over 15 years . hes fathered some babies and is very happy in a massive pond

also i couldnt see ur filtaration - is it the "IN LID" type? i dont trust those to be effective though a test kit (mainly for ammonia and nitrite) might prove me wrong.
If you REALLY cant get another tank or give him away and it is "IN LID" filtration then maybe increase it with an undergravel filter (uve already got the air there to power it)

good luck

Why complain about the cost of a fish!?

If you had done your research in the first place you wouldn't have this problem would you!

I deal with customers everyday thinking goldfish will fit in stupid little tanks. It takes just 2 minutes to explain but the amount of people that ignore my advice is ridiculous. There's a certain pleasure in laughing at them when you void there warranty on the fish in front of a queue of customers.

Give your goldfish to someone with a pond. Buy your self a heater and keep a few select tropicals in there instead.

This thread is just getting silly now, so I'll leave it there.

To the people that have offered practical advise, thank you, your points have been taken and I'll consider them in my next move.

To the animal rights fanatics, get a life, and stop digging up peoples dead relatives, its not funny and people just hate you more that way!!!

I think we will leave it there then, you cant blame people for having the animals best interest at heart really.
