get yourself down your lfs,you might be lucky and get your hands on some stock for last year that could be going cheap.lfs are having problems selling pond equipment as people are moving away from keeping ponds now days.i have put a small pond in myself and my lfs done me a great deal due to the fact he could not sell all his stock from last year.

they are suited to small lightly stocked ponds wont be enough filtration for a koi pond as not enough media although the double ones are great

To be honest, a pond that size is too shallow to house Koi, i would recommend 2ft minimum with 3 foot being the best depth for them. Bear in mind Koi get big, very big, and although a smaller pond will reduce the growth rate, they are designed to be big fish at the end of the day.

As for filtration itself, if you are going down the koi route, i would stay away from pressurised filters, they just cannot cope with koi waste. A box filter would be better. The dimensions you gave i worked out to be approx 80 gallons, now if you are having koi, i always double the water volume when working out filtration, so it would be 160 gallons.

A blagdon mini pond duo 4500 filter kit would do that for you nicely, and i quite rate the kits, easy to use and easy access for cleaning. Blagdon Minipond Filter

Now, if you decide not to go down the koi route, then the hozelock system you named would do that size pond for you with some goldfish etc. However, i do not rate hozelock products and used to get a heck of alot of returns on them, despite promise after promise they had sorted the problem out. I would go for a laguna system instead. The pressure flo 2500 would do you Laguna Pressure-Flo If you wanted to go high end, OASE are the best make you can get really, although that is reflected in the price! Oase Filtoclear

Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks very much for your detailed and linked reply Jack I did suspect the pond might not be deep enough for kois but you have confirmed it.

No problemo, i dont see much of a problem with your length and width, just double your depth, which doubles the cost of pond liner!

Yeah. Also, it is too shallow to keep any fish in it in the winter months.. unless you heat it somehow. Ponds should be at least 3ft or it just gets too cold.

At least, that is what i've read. I've never had a pond lol

Google for a bit.

Yep, def needs to be deeper me thinks, I am afraid. 2ft min for any pond, 3ft (preferably 4) for koi.
